One of the keys to success in golf is playing the golf irons consistently. For most beginners this seems an almost impossible dream, but with the application and practise of some sound principles it becomes achievable.

Here is what you need to do:

1. Posture. Stand with the feet pointing to the target, with knees flexed, back straight and the weight resting towards the heels.

2. Take the club back using a hand and arm swing, making sure the wrists are fully cocked.

3. Try to keep your body position as still as possible as your swing the club around your body.

4. You must make sure the left side of your body is cleared out of the way before you strike the ball. This will also enable you to generate lots of club head speed, and therefore hit the ball further.

5. Stay down as you hit through the shot and follow through keeping your arms straight. Seeing the ground after the ball has been played will stop you lifting your head too soon and the result will be a better golf shot.

6. You have complete control over how much power you use in playing your irons this way. Many top players play their shots well within their capabilities.

Here are some more tips to develop consistency with your iron shots.

1. Try to develop a sense of tempo with your clubs. Once you have done this try to play the irons at the same, even tempo. Don’t try and rush the shot.

2. Keeping the right knee flexed as you make the back swing will ensure you only turn your hips 45%.

3. Make notes as to how far you typically hit the ball with each iron in your bag.

I hope you enjoyed these tips, and here’s to good golfing.

With only 10-15% of people in the world blessed to be left-handed, the percentage of those that choose to pursue the game of golf creates a very small minority in the game.  In the past, it has been difficult for left-handed golfers to find instruction or even equipment that was made specifically for them.  But with the uprising of successful players such as US Masters winner’s Mike Weir (2003) and Phil Mickelson (2004), more lefties are making their mark and enjoying this great game.

If you are a leftie with your eye on the golf ball, consider these left handed golf tips for a great golfing experience:

Tip #1:  Find Your Natural Swing

Many lefties can successfully play golf right-handed and feel perfectly natural doing so since they are leading with their left side, left eye and pushing the ball to the left.  The key to choosing which side works best for you depends solely upon your natural swing.  Deciding whether your natural inclination is to swing from the left or from the right is imperative for lefties.

Tip #2: Get the Proper Equipment

If you decide that left is best, getting a set of left handed golf clubs is a must.  Using a right hand swing, you will miss out on your natural left side power and coordination.  So, even if you began your golfing experience using a right handed set and swing, the most critical thing you can do to improve your game is to embrace your “leftness”, make the switch and purchase the proper clubs.

Tip #3:  Solve Game Problems with the Right (Left) Instructor

If you find yourself among the vast majority of players that suffer from “kinks” in their game, make sure that you get proper instruction from someone who either plays left-handed, or can teach left-handed.  Getting a good instructor can make a huge difference in cutting strokes off of your game.

Remember: the game of golf is more about your eyes than your hands.  Following these left handed golf tips can put you on the cart path to success.

Am i ambidextrous or left handed?

Posted by Jeff Blanket

Bat / throw a baseball- left handed
Write- right handed
Swing a golf club- left handed
Eat- right handed
Play tennis- left handed
Dribble a basketball- both
brush my teeth- left hand
can anyone tell me if i am ambidextrous? if so, is there another specific name for it??
and aslo… everything i do with one hand i CANNOT do with the other at all

example- i can only throw and bat a baseball left handed..i couldn’t throw/bat a baseball right handed if my life depended on it:)

Sounds like you are ambidextrous. :)

my daughter wants to attempt golf. not sure if she will like it so don’t want to spend alot of money on golf clubs.

As odd as this may sound, try looking at your local department store (ie Walmart, Shopko, or even Fleet Farm or Farm and Fleet). The prices are low, so if she doesn’t like the game after trying it, you aren’t out a ton of money.
You can also purchase bags, balls, and even shoes at these places to more fully equip her, if you wish.

Golf clubs?

Posted by Jeff Blanket

A husband and wife were golfing when suddenly the woman asked, "Honey, if I died would you get married again?"

The man said, "No dear."

The woman said, "I’m sure you would."

So the man said, "Okay, I would"

Then the woman asked, "Would you let her sleep in our bed?"

"Yeah, I guess so." replied the man

Then the woman asked, "Would you let her use my golf clubs?"

And the man replied, "Of course not dear, she’s left handed."

HAHAHAHA!!!! BUSTED!!!!!
