Some Ideas for the Golfer!

Posted by Jeff Blanket

It seems like more and more golfers are popping up everywhere. There is a good chance that you are in need of some gift ideas for the golfer on your list. While a bucket of Wilson golf balls might seem like a fine gift idea at the time of purchase it may not be quite what your golfer was hoping for. These gift ideas are aimed at what frequent golfers are looking to get this birthday or holiday.

Clubs
There are hundreds of companies out there that manufacture golf clubs. There are the companies that sell full golf sets for $120 and others that custom make each golf club for somewhere in the neighborhood of $1,200 each! Each golfer is different in their preference of clubs. Some are always on the search for the newest club they saw Tiger Woods or Jack Nicklaus with this Sunday. Other golfers never want to part with the golf clubs they bought thirty years ago when they were twenty. No matter the golfer, however, they are bound to need at least one or two clubs.

This is where you have to get crafty. Next time you’re out together and your golfer wants to skip off to the golf store while you shop elsewhere, inform them, I’m done here, Ill joins you. Then watch very carefully as they drool over each club. With close observation you’ll notice that they’ll likely return to one club a couple of times. Note the style (9 Iron, Putter, and Pitching Wedge) and the manufacturer. Take as many mental notes as you can and jot them down as quickly as soon as you are able. While you may think a couple hundred dollars for a single club is insane, the golfer will be forever grateful.

Course Membership
If your golfer is currently throwing away hundreds of dollars on daily green fees, consider purchasing them a membership to their favorite golf course. Prices can run from a couple hundred dollars to several thousand dollars. However, if they’re golfing once a week or more it is well worth the cost.

However, there may be a slight problem with this gift idea. Some golf courses are very selective. You can only golf on some courses if you are invited to do so by other members. With time you too may be invited to purchase a membership. If your golfer’s favorite course happens to be at a club you may be in trouble. If, however, you manage to gain membership into the club without your golfer knowing, well that’s a gift to remember. Your hard work is sure to be appreciated.

I lost my friends Wilson Reflex flow weighting 9 iron, i feel bad as i did take care of them, cleaned them, checked everything. I must have left it by a green, as we were being rushed by people behind us - their balls flew past our heads so we picked them up and threw them in the lake. my dad put them on a tee and hit them towards the people. Is this normal, he plays golf alot and it did stop them.

but i feel bad as i said i would take care, how can i buy the same one.

If someone found it i left my name and number, do you think people would steal it or return it to the shop??

thanks.

golf club finders.com…they specialize in lost single clubs….but check with the course…they probably found it…unless the guys behind you tossed it into the lake…as I would have.

VERY POOR BEHAVIOR, ON YOUR FATHER AND YOUR PART! You should be ashamed!

Which are the best golf balls?

Posted by Jeff Blanket

I’m going to change my golf balls for either Srixon - AD 333 or Wilson - Smart Core, I currently play with these Titeist Pros http://www.direct-golf.co.uk/golf_balls/titleist/2009_pro_v1_golf_balls_dozen_golf_balls/p9420 but find they bounce quite a bit, any other recommendations are appreciated.

Hello,

first off, you must know, what you intend to do with the golf ball… =D

If you want the ball to go straight and that it’s flight path is controllable, than you might want to consider buying softer golf balls (Titleist NXT Tour), they are more controllable and have a better grip on the green… But softer golf balls don’t go as far as harder golf balls…

Harder golf balls, altough fly further, but aren’t that controllable and don’t get much grip on the green (Wilson Pro Staff)

Now, it’s up to you to decide which golf balls you’ll buy…

Hope it helps,
