Which golf clubs for my level?

Posted by Jeff Blanket

I just started getting into the game again, and the only set I of clubs I have is a junior set of Dunlop that I’ve had since I was 14, a little less than 13 years ago. They are a little short, and they have a junior flex, so I know I’ve outgrown them. Eventually I’ll buy a nice pricey brand name set, but right now money is an issue, can anyone recommend a decent set for a decent price? I just need something to last a few years that won’t break. (or break my wallet)

I guess it depends where you live… For example, I live in Canada. At Golf Town, they have iron sets at clearance prices for GREAT prices! It depends what your budget is… If your budget is about $400-500, it is really easy to get a discontinued quality Callaway, Nike, or Taylormade set of irons. If you are looking at a complete set (with drivers etc.), than you can get Ben Hogan of Nicklaus equipment for about 200-300 dollars. You should also consider buying used clubs. For the price of a new complete set of Hogans, for example, you could get a good set of used Taylormades (around 2002) and a used driver… Good luck! =)

  3. john Said,

I am just in high school so my parents didn’t want to spend too much on my golf set. They went to big 5 and bought me a set of nitro golf clubs. They were around 150 dollars new for a complete set with bag and everything besides sand wedge. They are very good. If you can try to stick with graphite shaft clubs. Try places like big 5 and stuff but if you can’t find anything you like or if you are on a very low budget try getting a used set from a thrift store or even craigslist. Good Luck
