I have never played golf before but I want to start this year. When I play hockey I shoot left handed, same with lacrosse. I throw a ball and write with my right hand. When I swing a baseball bat I would be standing on the left side of the plate.
I feel that because I shoot a hockey stick left handed that I should do the same with a golf club. Any thoughts?
i am just like you. i play golf basketball and baseball right handed while i box, play guitar, write, and eat left handed.
just take out a right and left handed club and see whats best for you. if i were you i would go right handed (not because it has athletic advantage) because it is soooo much easier to find right handed golf clubs then left. even now you have to special order certain clubs because alot of golf courses dont have a variety of left handed clubs.
however you are a hockey player and a lefty at it. have you ever hit a puck right handed? how does it feel? do you feel you can swing bothways or does right hand feel too weird for you? that may help you decide.
the fact is there is no correct question. when i was going through a huge slump 6 years ago when i was 18 i went from right to lefty for about 3 months just to forget about becoming a great golfer. i started having fun and within those three months i learned to hit a 7 iron 155 yards(righty i hit a 7 iron 165)
so really it depends on you. i chose to spar left handed because southpaws are rare.
if you want to be different then lefty is the way to go since they are obviously outnumbered. but the option of clubs for righties are pretty much everywhere compared to left handed clubs.
hope i helped
good question brotha
its all about comfort , experiment and see witch feels me comfy to you..

yes, once you pick up the club, you will figure out pretty damn fast which way is easier so dont worry about it.

I would think you could be right-handed golfer, because you hit a baseball right-handed, however, you may be able to play with either hand. Go to a range and hit a few balls with each club and see what feels better.

I'd try it both ways. Phil Mickelson is right handed in every way but golf.

you just do what feels confortable and how you hit the ball the best

I would suggest going to the driving range and hitting some balls left and right handed. But being in the same boat as you,(right handed in everyting else but I swing lefty) I would expect that you would feel more comfortable hitting left handed. I tried to play golf right handed but it felt as awkward as trying to throw a ball left handed. I'd say go with your natural swing, and take some lessons cause hittin that little ball where you want isn't easy!

whoa thats tight! same with me! i turned out to be a rightey golfer! so u prolly are! when i putt tho i can putt left handed like happy gilmore! but u could be different! just pick up a club and u should know right away! yeah but ur prolly a rightey cuz u write handed and if i try to swing right handed my right hand dominates and the swing just fails! i was a leftey in hockey but thats not so in golf so yeah

past experience on the same subject! crazy!
Whichever hand you jack off with should determine if your left or right handed!

i have always thought. that if u play hockey lefthanded that u are a righthanded person. as its a backwards shot. granted that i dont live where hockey is played. it only snowed a little one day where i live last winter. but look up some of the hockey players that play golf. i am sure that they are just like you in sports.

Hi, I am a woman who is right handed, but recently took up golf. My husband purchased me a set of resonable right handed clubs, the problem is, when i got out to play, it felt wrong playing right handed, my body wanted to play left. I told him and he thought I was crazy (this coming from a left handed man who plays golf right handed).
The funny thing is, I feel like a right handed at the T, but on the fairway, I feel like a lefty. I managel playing right, but I especially feel wrong when I am on the green using the putter, I KNOW at that point I should be playing left handed there, no if’s ands or clubs LOL…….
Am I going crazy our can a person play the game of golf left and right handed at the same time??????
Please help.
Claire
