I am left handed but was always taught to do numerous sports right handed. I bat right, golf right and shoot a gun right. Maybe give him a left and right club and see which way he feels more comfortable with.
Since your grandson is a natural southpaw I would suggest purchasing left-handed clubs since that is his natural stance. Why purchase clubs that would no be comfortable for him? References :

get him a starter set of left handed clubs that are made for a child his size. check with local pro shops or golf club supplier like roger dunn or golfsmith. there are at two or three club manufacturers that make child size clubs. the ones i have seen allow for players of three different heights. a decent starter set should include at least two woods (maybe a 3 and 5), at least 4 irons (w, 9, 7, 5), a putter, and a carry bag
as he grows keep him in kids clubs until he is big enough to swing adult clubs, my guess would be until he is a teenager at least. depending on the starter set you buy you may be able to fill in the caps between clubs as his game improves. your local club pro might be able to tell you when he is ready for adult clubs. Since he is strong with his right hand, I would go with right hand clubs since more people who are right handed. Also, if he ever has to borrow someone's clubs, odds are, they will be right handed. Still, you should choose which ever set he is more comfortable with. References :
